Château Paloumey is an estate in the Haut-Médoc, situated on Bordeaux's Left Bank, near the prestigious Margaux appellation. The name "Paloumey" pays homage to the palombes, or large pigeons, that soar above its vineyards. The estate suffered greatly during the phylloxera crisis of the 20th century, leading to the complete removal of its vines, which remained unplanted for years.
In 1989, Martine Cazeneuve acquired Château Paloumey, driven by a vision to revive its former splendor. Over the next two decades, she and her team replanted the entire vineyard and established a modern cellar, transforming the estate. Today, Château Paloumey spans 34 hectares (84 acres), with parcels neighboring the Classified Growths Château La Lagune and Château Cantemerle.
Since 2015, Martine’s son, Pierre Cazeneuve, a trained enologist, has managed the estate. After harvest, grapes undergo fermentation in stainless steel tanks and are then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels. The wine is estate-grown, bottled on-site, and certified organic.
