Giuseppe Cortese Barbera d'Alba

The Giuseppe Cortese Barbera d'Alba explodes from the glass with notes of black cherry, raspberry, succulent smoked meat, and leather. The palate is remarkably well balanced with impressive length and ripe tannins on the finish. The kirsch like fruit and notes of stewed berries follow through on the finish. We liked this wine at first sip but it got even better as the bottle remained open for a couple of days. The aromatics blossomed and evolved. We really enjoyed this wine and it is a nice departure from the "easy", juicy Barbera that we generally see.
